It is Time to Get Serious About the American Folk Festival’s First Color Fun Run

Guest post by Renee Ordway

Not really.
This race is all about fun, but with the run just a few days away we want to make sure you have all the information you need to enjoy what is sure to be a fantastic time and a great way to welcome spring back to the Bangor waterfront.

The interest in this event has far surpassed our expectations and if you are not already registered you need to know that remaining registration opportunities are very limited.

Registered participants can pick up their packets from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 25 or starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 26 at Color Village, which is located in the parking lot on Front Street, just down river from the Sea Dog.

If there are still spots left, last minute registrants can also sign up at those times. Registration closes at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

When you arrive on Saturday morning, check in at the participant check-in booth if you have not picked up your packet. If you have you can wander around Color Village and wait for further instructions.

Groups will start in waves and registered participants should have already received an email with their wave time information.

There are several options for parking in Bangor, though street parking is limited. The parking garage at Pickering Square at 100 Broad Street is the closest lot to the event and offers free parking for the first two hours.

Hopefully you will wear your official Color Bangor t-shirt. If you choose to wear something else that’s fine, but just remember that the color will show up best on bright, light or white colored clothing. Everything you wear will likely get covered in color so choose your clothing and footwear accordingly.

Color will be flying freely along the route so it may be best to leave pets and valuables at home. Cell phones and cameras should be kept covered.

After the run there will be an after-party back at Color Village with fun events, music and of course more color.

The Bangor waterfront is a very short walk to the heart of downtown Bangor where participants can wander through many quaint shops and stores and dine at one of several restaurants.

We’re hoping it won’t dare to rain on our fun run, but just in case we have a rain date set for the following day Sunday, April 27.
