More than 800 volunteers the lifeblood of the American Folk Festival

I don’t know about you, but from the moment the American Folk Festival
ends, I am already looking forward to next year’s event and all the
amazing talent the AFF brings to Bangor. One of my favorite parts of
the Festival is volunteering and the feeling I get from spending my
time to help make it such a success. It takes over 800 volunteers to make
this event run smoothly and we love knowing we can count on all of you
to make that happen. We are so lucky to have many, many volunteers
that have been with us right from the beginning and I think that says
a lot about the kind of environment that we foster and the
relationship we have with our community. This truly couldn’t happen
without all of you. Whether this will be your first year volunteering
or your tenth, we have over 18 areas to choose from and there is a job
for everyone!  To see a list of the jobs and their descriptions here.
As you read in longtime volunteer Robin Murphy’s blog post last week, it’s a great way to take in the sights and sounds of the festival!

If you need more convincing, here’s a little known secret –  we like
to keep our volunteers happy and thank them for their time by inviting
them to our exclusive AFF Artist, Volunteer and Staff Party on the Saturday night of the festival.

There is just over a month (37 days, but who’s counting…) until the
2014 American Folk Festival and if you’d like to pitch in this year,
now’s the time to sign up! Getting your name in early assures that you,
your family and friends can get the time slots and areas that work
best for your schedule.

Volunteer registration for 2014 is open and I hope you’ll join me
in volunteering this year and getting one more of the coveted
VOLUNTEER tee shirts to add to your collection.

Thank you so much for helping to make the AFF possible every year!
