Raise your hand if you can recognize the saxophone solo in the theme song from Sex & The City by just one or two notes? My hand is certainly raised! This Artist Spotlight highlights Mitch Frohman – the musician who happens to be the soloist on that song.

Mitch Frohman is widely, and perhaps best known for his 25 years stint with the Tito Puente Orchestra. Mitch played the sax and was a flute soloist for the orchestra and he also served as a member of the Mongo Santamaria band during that time. Mitch has an impressive collection of 6 Grammy Award Winning albums and is the Lead of the famous Mambo Legends Orchestra.

His expansive career has seen him playing and/or recording with some of greatest salsa/latin-jazz musicians in the world. His musical depth of knowledge and versatility has afforded him the opportunity to play and/or record with musicians from other genres as well such as Cyndi Lauper, Paul Simon, David Byrne & The Talking Heads, and Blood, Sweat and Tears.

Mitch will be joining us on Saturday with The Bronx Horns and giving us music guaranteed to get everyone’s bodies moving – Mambo, Salsa and other Latin styles. The band was formed in 1992 by Mitch, and quickly established themselves on the world scene as one of the most in-demand Latin Jazz and Salsa/Dance music bands performing today.

Sunday, Mitch will be performing with his world renowned band the Latin Jazz Quartet. They will be performing music from their hit CD, From Daddy With Love, which includes the Sex & the City theme song mentioned above.
